What is PYR Young Company?

It is a structured five-day musical theatre experience in which children train, rehearse and perform as a company alongside an experienced professional team. The week centres on singing, acting, dance, creativity, friendship and a final live production.

Is this being offered as childcare?

No. PYR Young Company is an activity-led musical theatre programme. Children must be registered for the experience and may not attend on an informal drop-in basis.

Which ages can attend?

Please check the eligible age range shown on the booking offer. We confirm every child's date of birth and school year after purchase. If your child is close to an age boundary, contact us before booking.

Does my child need previous performing experience?

No. We welcome enthusiastic young performers with a range of experience levels.

Does my child have to audition?

No audition is required. Places are booked directly, subject to availability.

Will every child perform?

Yes. Every child will take part in the final live production.

Will every child have a named role or solo?

Every child will be meaningfully involved, but roles, lines, solos and featured moments depend on the production, the group and what helps each child thrive. A particular role or solo cannot be guaranteed.

How will the children be grouped?

Children will work within three smaller companies. Grouping will consider age, experience, confidence, friendships where possible, and the creative needs of the show. We cannot guarantee every friend or sibling will be in the same group.

What will a typical day include?

Children will take part in singing, acting, dance, company rehearsals, theatre games and confidence-building activities. We will also include planned downtime and reset breaks throughout the day so they can rest, regulate and return to the creative work feeling refreshed.

Can my child attend for only part of the week?

The production is built across all five days, so full attendance is expected. Tell us before booking about any unavoidable absence. If a child is unwell during the week, keep them at home and contact the team promptly.

What are the programme hours?

The core programme runs from 9am–4pm, Monday to Friday.

Are extended drop-off and pick-up available?

Yes. Early drop-off is 8am–9am and late pick-up is 4pm–5pm. Each optional session costs £10 per child and must be booked in advance.

What happens if I am late collecting?

Contact the event phone immediately. Children will remain with authorised team members. Repeated or unplanned late collection may incur an additional charge and will be managed under the late-collection procedure.

Where is the week taking place?

At Kingsdown Methodist Church on Northfields Avenue, Ealing.

Is the venue accessible?

Tell us about mobility, sensory, communication or access requirements on the post-booking form. We will discuss reasonable adjustments and confirm an individual plan where needed. Contact us before booking if access will determine whether your child can participate safely.

When is the final show?

The final performance will take place from 6pm–7pm on Friday 30 October.

Can family members watch the final show?

Yes. Two tickets to the final performance are included with each booking.

Can I buy additional show tickets?

Additional tickets depend on venue capacity. Parents will be told after booking if and when they become available.

Do parents stay during the day?

No. Parents and carers sign children in and out with the team. If a settling-in or access arrangement is needed, agree it with us in advance.

Who may collect my child?

Only adults authorised on the child-information form may collect. We may ask for the collection password and photo identification. Tell us in writing about any change; we will not release a child based only on a message delivered by the child.

Can my child leave by themselves?

Children will not leave independently unless PYR has agreed this in writing with a person who has parental responsibility and confirmed that the arrangement is suitable for the child's age and circumstances.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothes suitable for acting and dance, secure closed-toe footwear, and layers they can move in. Label clothing and belongings. Costume information will be sent separately.

What should my child bring?

A labelled water bottle, any required medication in its original labelled packaging, and the food requested in the joining information. Please do not bring valuables. A full packing list will be included in the pre-event email.

Are food and drinks provided?

Parents will receive clear food arrangements before the week. Allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements and the risk of airborne or contact reactions must be disclosed on the child-information form before attendance.

May children bring phones?

Phones and smart devices must remain switched off and stored during sessions unless a health or access arrangement has been agreed. PYR cannot accept responsibility for unnecessary valuables brought to the venue.

What if my child has an allergy, medical condition or takes medication?

Complete the medical section of the post-booking form in full. Medication must be in date, in its original labelled packaging and handed directly to the designated adult. An additional medication or healthcare plan may be required. Emergency medication must remain immediately accessible.

Will staff administer medication?

Only where this has been agreed in advance, written parental authorisation and clear instructions are provided, and the team can safely support the request. Do not send medication in a child's bag without speaking to us.

What happens if my child becomes ill or is injured?

Team members will follow the first-aid and emergency procedures, record the incident and contact a parent or emergency contact. In an emergency we will call 999. Parents must remain reachable throughout the day.

Can my child attend if they are unwell?

No. Children should not attend if they are infectious, vomiting, have diarrhoea, a high temperature, or are not well enough to participate. Follow current NHS advice and tell us promptly about an absence.

How will you support SEND, disabilities, neurodivergence or additional needs?

We welcome an early, honest conversation. The post-booking form asks about communication, sensory, mobility, learning, emotional-regulation and personal-care needs, plus strategies that work well. We will discuss reasonable adjustments and whether an individual support or risk plan is required. Disclosure will never be used to embarrass or label a child.

What if my child feels anxious, overwhelmed or needs quiet time?

Share triggers, early signs and calming strategies with us. The team will use encouragement, predictable boundaries and appropriate breaks. We will contact you if your child is distressed, cannot safely rejoin, or needs support beyond what was agreed.

How do you manage behaviour and bullying?

Children are expected to treat others and the venue with respect. We use clear, age-appropriate expectations and restorative conversations. Bullying, discriminatory behaviour, violence, unsafe conduct or persistent disruption will be addressed promptly, with parents involved. If safety cannot be maintained, a child may need to be collected.

What safeguarding measures are in place?

PYR uses safeguarding and child-protection procedures, a designated safeguarding lead, safer working practices, appropriate staff checks, sign-in and collection controls, attendance records, emergency contacts and a clear process for reporting concerns. Safeguarding concerns cannot be kept confidential from the appropriate safeguarding professionals.

Are team members DBS checked?

Team members are recruited and deployed in line with their role, responsibilities and safeguarding requirements. Appropriate checks, references, supervision and conduct expectations form part of the safer-working arrangements.

Will children ever be alone with one adult?

Activities and spaces are planned to support safe, observable working. Staff follow the code of conduct and safer-working procedures. Any necessary one-to-one support is risk assessed and managed appropriately.

Will photographs or video be taken?

Parents make separate choices about photography and filming on the post-booking form. Marketing consent is optional and is not a condition of taking part. Safeguarding restrictions on audience photography and recording will be explained before the show.

How is my child's information protected?

We collect only information needed to administer the programme and keep children safe. Health and support information is restricted to authorised people who need it, handled under our privacy information and retained only for the appropriate period. Do not email detailed medical or safeguarding information unless asked to use a secure route.

What happens after I book?

You will receive a confirmation email containing a secure link to the compulsory Child Information & Consent Form. One form is required for each child. A place is not ready for attendance until the form is complete and any necessary medical, support or collection arrangements have been agreed.

What if two households share parental responsibility?

Give us the contact details and authorised collection arrangements needed to keep the child safe. If there are court orders, contact restrictions or sensitive family circumstances, request a confidential call rather than sending documents through a general form.

What is the cancellation or refund policy?

The booking terms shown at checkout apply. Read them before payment and contact us promptly if circumstances change.

Can I pay in instalments?

Available payment methods and instalment options are shown at checkout. Check the schedule carefully before confirming the booking.

How does the sibling offer work?

When two or more siblings are booked together, every sibling receives the sibling price of £225 each. This applies to all siblings included in the same family booking.

After payment: one important final step

Every parent or carer will receive a private link to complete the Child Information & Consent Form. This gives the team the emergency, medical, access and collection information needed to prepare safely for each child.
